Response

Has GBC received reports about rats or vermin in Nando's over the last year?

Yes, but the one report we received was from the Regional Safety Manager at Nando's who advised us on 29/01/20 that they had taken the decision to close the premises for approximately a week whilst they carried out some improvements, including additional preventative pest proofing.

Could you confirm whether the GBC Environmental Health team have inspected the Nando's restaurant in Friary Street recently?

Yes, a GBC Environmental Health Officer conducted an unannounced food inspection of Nando's, Friary Street restaurant on 04/06/19, and awarded a food hygiene rating of 5.

Has GBC been involved in closing the restaurant?

No, GBC has not been involved in closing the restaurant. Two Environmental Health Officers from the Council's Regulatory Services team visited the restaurant on 31/01/20 at the request of the Regional Safety Manager at Nando's to provide advice and assistance on preventative pest control.

Does the restaurant still have its 5/5 star rating for hygiene?

Yes. A GBC Environmental Health Officer carried out an unannounced revisit to Nando's on 10/02/20 to check on the works that had been carried out. The officer confirmed that the restaurant still has its food hygiene rating of 5.
