I am writing to request information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 regarding outdoor fitness facilities (including calisthenics parks and outdoor gyms).

Please provide:
-The number of council-owned outdoor gyms or calisthenics facilities currently in operation.
Any proposals, applications, or petitions for new outdoor fitness facilities received since January 2020.
Of those proposals, how many were:
a) Approved
b) Rejected
c) Deferred or not progressed

-The total annual budget allocated to parks, leisure, or outdoor recreation for each financial year since 2020.
Any specific budget allocated to outdoor fitness equipment or facilities in the same period.

-Reasons recorded for rejecting or not progressing proposals for outdoor fitness facilities (where available).

-Would you also be able to list the number of facilities that have closed down or been removed?

We do not have a specific budget for this purpose.

2026/27 £90,000 (playground maintenance budget)

2025/26 £90,000 (playground maintenance budget)

2024/25 £90,000 (playground maintenance budget)

2023/24 New finance system in 2024, information not accessible prior to this date.

-Reasons recorded for rejecting or not progressing proposals for outdoor fitness facilities (where available).

Taken out – 1 Westborough 1 mile fitness trail. All the equipment was moved to other sites as follows:

1. Foxburrows - 4 out 5 moved to Stoke Park gym.

2. Coachlads - 2 to Onslow Recreation Ground gym, 1 to Kingston Meadows.

3. Burrows - 2 Stoke Park gym, 2 vandalised (removed).

4. Woodside - 4 to Onslow Recreation Ground.

(These sites made up the Westborough 1 mile fitness route that was removed)

Total: 13 items of equipment moved to other locations, 2 removed following vandalism.
