I would like to know how many flower beds have been put in and around town centre and what the cost of that is to maintain / plant each year that the council spends.

Response

Below are the quantities of the flower beds at sites in the town centre that seasonally get replanted. It does not include beds with sustainable planting/shrub beds/rose beds etc.

Quarry Street x 2

Stoke Park Gardens x 3

Quakers Acre x 3

Castle Grounds x 46

Total: 54

The cost figures for planting/maintenance of flower beds in and around the town centre as follows:

For all the plants (winter and summer including planting and weeding): £4955.00

For the watering the plants throughout the summer: £1740.00

(depending on the weather more rain less watering).
