Request

I would like to know how much the Council has spent on the GBC website.

Response

In 2016 we completed a website update which gave us more templates, allowed us to proceed with self-service options and gave us the flexibility to change the site in house. In terms of the cost of this project, it was £29,400 excluding VAT.

The update in 2016 gave us the ability to adapt and change the template as needed, create forms and payment options, and flexibly deliver our resident and non-resident users with a tailored user journey - without the need to pay external suppliers to make these changes. With a move to self-service, the last website update also gave us the ability to push more transactions online, saving costs from other contact methods.

We use analytics to check the website to ensure that users are finding what they need, and we will change the website to make it easier for people to do this if the evidence shows there is a need. Additionally, there are many necessary changes and updates that need to be done daily in order for us to keep people informed, fulfil our duties and let people know how they can access our services.
