Response

How many events does the authority hold a year?

There is no set amount of events the Council directly organises and delivers each year although these can be largely separated between community events, markets, corporate events and civic events.

In 2021, the Council delivered one large corporate event (Car Free Day) and a small number of civic parades. The Council organises and delivers a Farmer's Market on a monthly basis and an additional 6-10 markets on the high street each year.

There are events that are not delivered by the Council but are held on Council land. We have approx. 160 applications for events on our land each year. These range from small community events to larger shows and festivals.

How many of these need TRO's?

TRO's are usually dealt with by Surrey County Council. The Council made one TRO in 2021

The total number of Guildford Borough Council approved Road Closures in 2021 totals 28. This number includes our own events (5) as well as external applications.

What are the events that need road closures?

In 2021 the Council applied for road closure notices for the following events:

Markets

Car Free Day

Civic events

A list of events that are held in your authority each year?

We do not have this information available in a list. All events delivered by the Council are currently publicised through our social media channels and website.
