Case reference FOI2023/00368

Published 5 May 2023

Request

1. How many tenants have been placed in temporary accommodation since 2019? Please break down per year until the most recent date.

2. How much money, per year since 2019, has the council spent on the provision of temporary accommodation? Please break down per year until the most recent date.

3. How many years has the current longest housed tenant spent in temporary accommodation? Can this data be presented in a spreadsheet/table where possible.

Response

1. Tenants placed in temporary accommodation since 2019 - Breakdown by year:

2019: 0

2020: 3

2021: 3

2022: 22

2023 to date: 2

Note: most homeless households are accommodated through either the prevention or the relief duties, so do not enter legally temporary accommodation. These figures do not include those accommodated in guest houses, etc. under the 'interim' duty.

2. How much money, per year since 2019, has the council spent on the provision of temporary accommodation? Please break down per year until the most recent date.

Information unavailable, as any costs cannot be meaningfully separated from overall spending on homelessness.

3. How many years has the current longest housed tenant spent in temporary accommodation?

11.5 yrs [note housed in 'permanent' council flat albeit on non-secure tenancy].
