Request
I am writing to request information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000. I would like to request the following details regarding registered social landlords (RSLs) operating within your council's jurisdiction:
1. Full names of all registered social landlords currently operating and recognized within your area.
2. Contact details of these registered social landlords, including but not limited to:
• Registered office addresses;
• Contact emails;
• Phone numbers;
• Areas of operation within the council's jurisdiction (e.g., wards, districts, or specific zones covered by each RSL where appropriate);
• Any affiliations or partnerships these registered social landlords have with the local council;
• A summary of the types of housing services they provide (e.g., supported housing, general needs housing).
Response
Thank you for your request for information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
The Council does not maintain a definitive list of all Registered Providers operating within the borough. However, we are able to provide publicly available information which may assist. The Regulator of Social Housing publishes a dataset which identifies Registered Providers with social housing stock in each local authority area.
We have attached an extract of this dataset for Guildford, which identifies providers with stock within the borough based on the most recent regulatory returns. It is important to note that this dataset reflects providers who own social housing stock in the area, and may not include all providers who operate locally in other capacities (for example, those providing management or support services without owning stock).
The Council does not hold a single, comprehensive record of contact details (such as registered office addresses, email addresses and telephone numbers) for all Registered Providers operating within the borough. This information is publicly available via the individual providers’ websites, and we consider it reasonably accessible to you by other means in accordance with Section 21 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000. You may therefore wish to consult the relevant provider websites directly for the most up-to-date contact information.
Please note that information about registered social landlord housing providers is also publicly available information, which can be found via the following links:
Please refer to the table titled ‘Registered providers look-up tool’ – this can be downloaded to enable editing, so that you can search according to the Local Authority area you wish to view.
As such, the information you require can be found from publicly available sources and consequentially under Section 21 of the Act, we are not required to provide information in response to a request if it is already reasonably accessible.
Yours sincerely,
FOI Team
Guildford Borough Council
