Information Request - In reply to a recent FOI question about waste recycling, Surrey County Council provided me with the following information: "Surrey County Council are responsible for the collection of waste through the 15 Community Recycling Centres (CRC) provided throughout Surrey. Shown below is a summary for 2016/17 of the amounts of waste that are collected at the CRCs and forwarded on for recycling and reuse. It also shows the amount of waste that has to be sent for landfill and energy recovery. In total 113,762 tonnes of waste were brought to the CRCs by householders and of this Surrey CC sent 62% for recycling and reuse. Material destination Tonnage to landfill and energy recovery [through incineration]: 42,878.81 - 38% Tonnage to recycling and reuse: 70,883.30 - 62% Total CRC Tonnes: 113,762.11 - 100%." SCC added "It should be noted that this table does not include the household waste collected at the kerbside. Kerbside waste collections are the responsibility of the Borough and District Councils and I would suggest that you contact these authorities if you require the information for kerbside collections." Can you please provide equivalent figures for kerbside waste collected by GBC, showing what proportion of this goes (a) to landfill and incineration and (b) recycling and reuse? Secondly, how much "green bin" waste is collected but is afterwards found unsuitable for recycling and is therefore diverted to landfill or incineration?
